NYCPS Office of Student Pathways: “From FutureReadyNYC to CTE to apprenticeships, our schools are all in on preparing students for a pathway to a meaningful career and financial security.”
This summer both Queens North and Queens South High School Districts collaborated with the Office of Student Pathways to facilitate a two day professional learning experience focused on preparing our students to be ready for their postsecondary journeys. The institute focused on College and Career Advising as well as Pathways programs like Career and Technical Education (CTE), Career Readiness Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA), and FutureReadyNYC.
School staff participated in sessions focused on improving offerings for financial literacy, work-based learning, early college credits and credentials, as well as learning how to use new data portals to track their work. During the district-planned time, schools had opportunities to network between schools and districts around promising practices and plan for fall implementation.
In addition to College and Career Advising efforts, this fall Queens North High Schools will have 14 of its schools offering CTE-related programming, 9 offering FutureReadyNYC pathways, and William Cullen Byant offering apprenticeships through their CRMYA program.
We are looking forward to seeing the plans come to life and the impact they will have on our students.
